Back around the year 2000, I picked up a disposable camera and took some outdoor pics with it. The reactions from other people to the resulting pics were amazing to me. They all reacted like I was some kind of professional photographer. “Wow! What kind of camera do you have?!” “Uhhhh… a drugstore disposable?”
So I spent a few years buying disposable cameras, going “click” with them and watching people get amazed at the results. What the HECK? I never thought of myself as some kind of awesome photographer, but there you go, I guess.
I eventually graduated to a consumer-level point-and-shoot. I got even more positive reactions with that.
Nowadays, a generous (and trusting!) friend lets me borrow his semi-expensive Nikon. It’s a rather intimidating camera to me, but I seem to do OK with it, at least so far. That’s the camera I use to take pics of my new brooches. I’ve also done some nice desert photography with it rather recently.
So watch this space… at some point I will have some of my best pics posted here from all three of my eras of photography.
